How Effective Is Iridology?

Iridology is the study of the patterns and colours on the iris of the eye. This enables a person’s overall health condition to be determined. It is an effective way of spotting Illnesses or Potential Illnesses even before the symptoms arise. It is a non-invasive method of viewing the iris to determine existing or potential health issues. These potential health issues, when detected earlier can assist in faster recovery or prevention of the illness from getting worse.

The Science and Practice Of Iridology was discovered by a 19th century Hungarian physician, Dr Ignaz von Peczely, who is recognised as its founding father. Dr von Peczely noticed an owl in a tree in his backyard. He tried catching the owl and accidently broke one of the owl’s legs. A dark stripe developed in the lower part (6 o’clock) of the owl’s iris. As the owl’s leg was nursed back to health, he noticed the appearance of white and crooked lines in the part of the iris where the dark stripe had been. Over the years, many pairs of human eyes were studied and patterns and markings in the iris were made on Iridology Charts that correlated with various organ parts.

Most Doctors and Opticians are aware of Iridology. You may recall seeing a General Practitioner Doctor some thirty years ago and the Doctor would take the time to shine a torch light and use a magnifying glass to examine your eyes. Sadly, most of the Medical Profession are under tremendous time pressure and pressure from budgets and only have under 10 minutes per appointment and only to address one health concern per appointment. Most Medical Practitioners therefore do not have sufficient time to examine your eyes. Eye Specialists and Opticians still do this to a certain extent and some do look for illnesses or potential illnesses such as Glaucoma and Diabetes.

Each marking and zone in the iris represents a different aspect or organ of the human body. Iridologists can discover some markers of inflammation in certain specific areas. For example, the brain area is between 11 o’ clock and 1 o’clock in the iridology chart. When a grey or whitish ring forms around the brain area of the iris, this signifies the start of Dementia or the severity of it, depending in the thickness of the grey or whitish ring.

The iris of the eye reveals structural defects, latent toxic settlements, inherent weaknesses and the activity of the organs of the body. The iris indicates the presence and the source of acids, anemia, catarrh, nerve tensions and other abnormalities such as drug poisoning. It identifies chemical imbalance and congestion in the digestive system. Iridology helps to determine the location of inflammation, the stage of inflammation and how it was caused. The stages of inflammation is determined by the colour changes in the corresponding specific area of the iris.

Iridology provides confirmation of findings and enables the Iridologist to determine the improvements or deterioration of health concerns over time. It is an effective tool in monitoring progress and whether the person is following the recommendations to his or her health.

When cholesterol builds up in the eyes, a white or grey ring can form around the iris. This is called arcus senilis, which is a common sign of aging. This can indicate high cholesterol and triglycerides, and a greater risk for stroke and heart disease.

Very often, the patient will confirm they consume lots of foods cooked in the wrong oils and deep fried such as highly processed and fast foods.

Those who constantly eat out or order take aways are more likely to be less healthy as these foods are cooked fast, in a commercial environment, i.e. with profit in mind and often using poor quality and cheap cookware made from aluminium or food that is microwaved or cooked in high heat that destroys most or all the nutrients. Most people eat for taste and prioritise convenience instead of bearing in mind how the food is nourishing their bodies.

Iridology is beneficial and attractive especially to those who do not wish to undergo more painful and invasive health checks, such as blood tests. For example, children or adults who may be afraid of or dislike injections and needles. Using Iridology, we can pinpoint main weaknesses in the person’s body and give a visual representation of findings so that patients can understand their body better and make positive changes required to achieve a healthier physical and mental wellbeing. By starting to incorporate these healthier changes earlier in life, patients stand a much better chance of living longer and healthier for many many years and also pass on this knowledge to future generations.

Having follow up Iridology check ups a few times a year, especially for those who have serious illnesses such as Diabetes and Psoriasis will also help monitor the patient’s progress. Where natural supplements are taken or recommended, the daily dosages can also be adjusted according to the patient’s progress rather than adopting a one dosage fits all approach as most follow by taking what is stated on the product’s label.

At the follow up Iridology appointments, new Iridology photos are taken and compared to previous photos to monitor progress. As photographs are visual evidence, this also helps the patient understand better, his or her progress compared to printed medical reports that often use jargon which most laypersons do not understand.

Iridology helps to find out possible genetic and hereditary traits that have been passed down through generations and strengths and weaknesses a person carries in their body. It enables the person to take control of his or her life in ensuring strengths are maintained and weaknesses reversed or strengthened.

Other professionals such as Naturopaths and Chiropractors can also benefit from Iridology.  Iridolology enables Chiropractors to pinpoint the problem areas in the spine. Naturopaths can use Iridology to assess the needs of the patient best and recommend natural solutions accordingly. This then enables tailored treatments to deal with the inherent strengths and weaknesses.
