Iridology lesson – cholesterol and lymph rings

The cholesterol rings and lymph rings (also called the lymphatic rosary) are specific patterns in the iris that provide very valuable information about the cardiovascular and lymphatic health of a person. The cholesterol ring is a white or opaque band around the outer rim of the iris that indicates that the fat metabolism, the cholesterol or triglycerides level and the blood circulation are out of balance.

The lymph ring is in the form of a chain of white beads or “rosary-like” spots surrounding the periphery of the iris, which is a sign of congestion in the lymphatics and poor elimination of wastes. These signs allow trained iridologists to detect underlying issues early, supporting proactive, natural health strategies.

Iridology is a non-invasive, holistic diagnostic system that uses the iris (the coloured portion of the eye) as an indicator of organs, systems and tissues in the entire body by looking at patterns, colours and markings on it. Formed throughout the centuries and perfected by masters, including Bernard Jensen among them, Iridology perceives the iris as a map, with each of its segments being associated with certain parts of the body. Symbols such as rings give hints on inherited weakness, existing imbalances, and lifestyle effects. Contrary to other tests, iridology provides a fast and pain-free overview, which can be used to supplement other tests.

The Cholesterol Ring: A Window into Circulatory Health

The cholesterol ring, sometimes called the lipid ring or sodium ring, is one of the most recognisable signs in iridology. It is seen as a white opaque arc-like band or full ring, surrounding the outer rim of the iris. It is milky or hazy in appearance in certain instances, and sharply outlined in others.

This finding is an indication of impaired lipid (fat) metabolism. It is usually associated with a high level of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood, non-organic sodium surplus, extrasolar calcium deposition and possible liver involvement. It may also accompany conditions such as diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, or liver dysfunction, where fat processing is compromised. The ring does not necessarily indicate sky-high levels of blood cholesterol; instead it points to the fact that the body is not properly managing fats and this may cause hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis), decrease in blood flow, and joint issues due to calcium spurs.

When this ring is observed in the practice of iridology, diet and lifestyle are put in view. The sign may be worsened by poor dietary choices high in processed foods, trans fats and refined sugars. Stress and being sedentary also contribute to this as they do not allow one to burn fat. Iridology enables early diagnosis so that individuals can make lifestyle changes prior to the deterioration of their conditions.

Some of the common guidelines are:

  • A whole-food diet with high levels of fibre, omega-3 fatty acids (flax seeds, walnuts or fish with high amounts of omega-3) and antioxidants.
  • Reducing consumption of refined salts and processed foods.
  • Incorporating liver-supportive herbs such as milk thistle or dandelion.
  • Exercising in order to enhance circulation and metabolism.

It has been reported by many Iridologists that the ring can be softened or faded after some time with the help of regular adjustments by way of indicating better systemic balance.

Lymph Rings (Lymphatic Rosary): Signs of Congestion in the Body’s Drainage System

The lymphatic rosary (also known as lymph rings) has a different appearance. It is not a firm band, but a chain of little white beads, puffs or tophi, which are distributed around the outer ciliary zone of the iris. Classic signs of lymphatic congestion are these so-called “pearls” or “rosary beads”.

The lymphatic system is one that is essential but ignored. It eliminates toxins, pathogens as well as excess fluid in tissues, excretes proteins in blood, absorbs fats, carries hormones, eliminates bacteria, produces antibodies and balances fluids. Lymph flow depends on the action of the muscles and breathing as opposed to the central pump like the cardiovascular system. When the body is sluggish, as a result of dehydration, inactivity, unhealthy diets, or chronic stress, the waste accumulates, the body immunity is lowered, and the inflammation increases.

This stagnation is indicated in the lymphatic rosary in iridology. It is especially common in blue-eyed individuals and suggests a constitutional tendency toward lymphatic overload. The warning labels include possible complications like swollen glands, common infections, retention of fluid, skin complications or chronic fatigue. It also emphasises the importance of aiding the natural body detoxification processes.

Interventions to support those with lymph rings are:

  • Daily movement: Walking, rebounding, or yoga to stimulate lymph flow.
  • Hydration with clean, filtered water.
  • Dry skin brushing and contrast showers to encourage drainage.
  • Lymph-friendly foods and herbs: Garlic, onions, broccoli (rich in organic sulphur), echinacea, golden seal, pau d’arco, and vitamin C-rich fruits.
  • Avoiding water with chlorine and immunosuppressive habits.

Through lymphatic health prevention, people are able to boost immunity and lessen toxin load, which can frequently result in clearer skin, increased energy and fewer infections.

How to Identify These Rings

The cholesterol and lymph rings can be identified by close inspection (preferably with magnification) of good light. The cholesterol ring is located at the junction of the sclera and the iris, and it has the form of a continuous or partial band of white colour. The lymphatic rosary is more dotted and bead-like, often in the peripheral zone. The two most evident are found in light irises, but they may also be found in brown eyes.

Trained iridologists look at the thickness of the ring, its completeness, and other signs that accompany it (lacunae or fibres) in order to have a more complete picture. It is essential to mention that these markings are not diagnostic in themselves but make a part of a general evaluation.

Integrating Iridology into Your Wellness Journey

Iridology shines as a preventive tool. Early detection of cholesterol or lymph rings promotes lifestyle changes that will favour health in the long run. It encourages personal responsibility and a holistic view—addressing diet, movement, stress, and emotional wellbeing together.

Although iridology does not replace medical diagnosis, it provides its own insight, which prompts positive change. These markings are often discovered in the course of a session and afterwards, the corresponding imbalances are verified by blood tests or some other diagnostic tests. Thus, the guidance of iridology proves quite accurate.

In this video, we share an example of our Iridology consultation analysis.

Ronald analyses the eye photos of a 65-year-old lady who has weaknesses in her liver and lymphatic system. She is also short of Vitamin C.

This case offers a clear demonstration of how Iridology can highlight structural stress, inherited tendencies, and areas of the body that may need support long before symptoms become severe.

Whether you’re new to Iridology or exploring natural approaches to health, this real consultation example provides insight into how the eyes can reflect deeper imbalances.

Conclusion

Cholesterol and lymph rings in iridology serve as clear signals from the body. The cholesterol ring alerts us to fat metabolism and circulatory concerns, while the lymphatic rosary highlights drainage and immune challenges. By recognising these signs, we can take informed, natural steps to restore balance. Iridology helps us remember that the eyes actually are the windows to health—we see what would be hidden even before the symptoms manifest.
